Although the ships have left our shores, the memories of a great festival still linger strongly in our minds. As columnist Kathleen Merryman of The News Tribune penned, “Tall Ships was the star of Staycation Summer…the finest, funnest festival Tacoma has ever seen.”

The 2008 Tall Ships® Tacoma Festival was an unqualified success; it attracted more than 300,000 visitors and resulted in an economic impact of $19.2 million to the local area.

Unfortunately, its success was overshadowed by a shortfall in anticipated revenues.
